Blue French Provincial Dresser

A friend of mine wanted to know if I wanted an old dresser she did not want any more.  She had moved and it did not fit in her new house. I of course said YES!
Before:

The dresser was in pretty good shape but needed a new look.

I mixed up my own aqua chalk paint and painted the dresser.  The blue color was a little bright so I made a wash of white chalk paint and washed the dresser.  After I got the blue the color I wanted I waxed the dresser with hemp oil/dark wax.

The last detail was to paint on gold Rub N Buff  in a few places.

I love how it turned out!

Pink Gold and Frenchy-Ooh-La-La

I have a client who wanted a Frenchy pink bed for her daughter and she asked me to find one and custom paint it for a bedroom re-do.  I found a double French Provincial Headboard and she was excited.
Before:

She wanted it to have pink and white and be Frenchy and she said I could do it however I envisioned it.  The picture I had in my head was an aged pink and white striped headboard with gold and a monogram.
I mixed up a light pink home-made chalk paint and started to paint.  After the paint had dried I got out painters tape and marked off my stripes.  I painted the stripes in white.

I painted the top edge in gold Rub n Buff.  I also distressed the edges and front of the headboard.  I painted a white oval in the middle and painted on a French script E. Next I painted around the oval with gold Rub n Buff for an added extra detail.  After distressing I didn't like how pink the pink was so I made a wash out of watered down white paint.  I painted the wash on the pink and wiped it off and it gave a great weathered and aged look to the solid pink.  I kept feathering in the wash until I got the right pink look.  I then aged the headboard with hemp oil and dark wax.

I like that it looks old and beat up

You can see the white wash here

My Client loves it and so do I!

Pair of Cane Chairs with European Grain Sack Fabric

After doing some errands today I stopped by one of the local Goodwill stores and found a pair of great chairs.  Well--they did not look pretty, but I really liked the shape and the bones so they had to come home with me.
Before:

Lovely yellow seats!

I have a few antique European grain sacks and wanted to use the fabric on the chairs.  I painted the chairs with my home-made chalk paint (Milky Way by Benjamin Moore) and then distressed them.  To make the chairs more of a creamy color and add some dimension I painted them with my hemp oil/dark wax mix.  They came out the color I was picturing in my head.  I cut up a grain sack and stapled away.

I love the Red!

My heavy metal rooster that I have had for many years

I might have to keep these and get rid of a pair of my current dinning chairs!
